Ella Fitzgerald took this train to Harlem in 1961.  Apparently that was also the last time this train was taken by a janitorial crew.

The scene every time it rains, at least in the subway. The scene on the street includes the detritus of brutally maimed umbrellas lying in the gutters with their metal skeletons exposed.

MTA board members consider banning food & drink →

Yes, I am often annoyed with people eating on the subway, and yes it is ridiculously common to find large amounts of food trash strewn throughout cars. Then again, sometimes I only have the 15-minute ride between work and school to stuff a bagel in my mouth.
