San Francisco’s latest creative green-space project: mini and mobile “parks.” This LA Times article airs both supporters and opponents (more opponents) and is pretty ambivalent.I think these “parklets” would work best when context is taken into account (as in the second example discussed)—near food trucks, or outdoor performances, or anywhere else where sit-down space is temporarily desired and there’s lots of foot traffic.
The ending of the article is great, and may have given me a new motto:
“‘So many people ask me, “What about your parking?” or “How do you get your car in and out?”’ Jawa said. ‘We could have a lot of really nice things if we weren’t so hellbent on doing things for cars.’”
